C:r6D$nn R::d FOl/PA Office Nucl:ar Regulatory Commission (R7799997guggggh#

Washington, DC 20555 ACT REGULST (bra -ff-Vlol De:r Ms. Reed:

Id 9' 'I f I rec:ntly filed a document request with the Department of Energy concem-Ing the NUMEC Corporation's operation at Quehanna, PA. However, the DOEresponded by s!ating they were unable to find anyinformation respon-siva to my request, and they suggested I pursue the matter at the NRC.

So, I will reiterate my request.

I would like all official documents, memorandums (both typewritten and n handwritten), inter office correspondence, meeting notes, any other hand-writt:n or typewirtten notes, tape recordings, pictures, scientific records and/or data, materials related to what production and/or research was carried on at the Quehanna facility.

This facility was known as the Quehanna facility, the Clearfield plant for op: ration) and the NUMEC Radiation Process & Reaction Center at Karth-aus, Pa.

NUMEC leased the atomic reactor facility at Quehanna from the State in 1967. In 1971, I have correspondence which Indicates the company termi-nated its facility license. At that time ARCO took over the operation.

Currently, PermaGrain Products Inc. uses the facility to make specialty flooring.

SincD NUMEC's Apollo facility was the subject of various NRC, FBIand CIA investigations, I am assuming that no materials relating to the company would be destroyed.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (814) 773 3151.
