WOLF CREEK GENERATIt!G STATION - AMENDMENT NO.16 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-42 (TAC N0 67572 )

The Coninissien has issued the enclosed Arendment No.16 to Facility Operating License No, hPF 42 for the Wolf Creek Generating Station. The amendment consist of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated _ February 6, 1988.

The amendment would revise Technical Specifications 5.3.1 and 5.6.1.1 to allow storage of fuel assemblies of up to 4.5 weight percent U-235 which is an increase frem the current limit of 3.5 weight percent U-235. Technical Specification 5.6.1.1 is also being revised to reflect the actual spent fuel pool storage rack nominal cell pitch of 9.236 inches.

In addition, the Acceptable / Unacceptable regions of Figure 5.6-1 and Figure 3.9-1 are being changed on the Burnup versus Enrichment graphs to reflect the higher possible enrichments.

A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed. The notice of issuance will be included in the Commission's next bi-weekly Federal Reaister notice.
