RIVER BEND STATION - GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.2 (PART 1)
EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION FOR SAFETY-RELATED C0tlP0NENTS (TAC NO. 61032)
The staff has completed its review of the above subject item in Generic Letter 83-28, Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events.
The staff and its contractor, EG&G Idaho, Inc., have reviewed the program for classifying all safety related components, other than reactor trip system components, as described in Gulf States Utilities' (GSU) submittals dated August 3, 1984 and May 20, 1985. The results of this review are documented in the enclosed Technical Evaluation Report (TER) prepared by EG&G, Idaho, Inc.
1 The TER finds that the GSU response to this item is acceptable. The NRC staff concurs with the contractor's TER and also finds the program acceptable.
This completes the staff's action for Item 2.2 (Part 1) of Generic Letter 83-28. The staff's review of Iten 2.2 (Part 2) is continuing. The results of the review will be the subject of separate correspondence.
