ISSUANCE OF LICENSE AMENDMENT NO.lz)(TAC 68716, PC 220) The Comission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. l20 to Facility Operating License No. OPR-3 for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (Rowe) in response to your application of June 27, 1988. This amendment revises the Technical Specifications to enabla piping modifications needed to allow for instaliation rf the water clean-up system, an enhanced liquid radwaste system. The addition of the Water Clean-Up System (WCS) is a plant modification you are performing under the provisions of 10CFR50.59. The steff would expect that you consider items such as the following in ycur analysis: systems interactions, filter failures resulting in sand migration to engineered safety features (ESF), valve misoperation during maintenance or WCS operation, loss of p3wer, operational procedures and ESF leakages outside of containment per Section 4.35 of the Yankee Integrated Plant Safoty Assessment (NUREG.0825). A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. A Notice of Issuance will be included in the Comission's, next regular biweekly Federal Reaister notice. Sincerely. .
