Dear Mr. Fay:
ACRS(10)
PD III-3 Gray File
SUBJECT:
RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETIN 88-01, "DEFECTS IN WESTINGHOUSE CIRCUIT BREAKERS" (TAC 67707 AND 67708)
On February 5,1988, the staff issued NRC Bulletin 88-01 requesting that licensees using Westinghouse Series DS circuit breakers in Class IE service per-form and document inspection of the welds on the pole shafts and inspection of the alignment in the breaker closing mechanism.
In your letter dated March 9, 1988, you stated that Westinghouse Series DC circuit breakers are not used at Point Beach. We concur with you that Bulletin 88-01 is not applicable to Point Beach. Accordingly, TACs 67707 and 67706 are considered closed.
