SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF JUNE 24, 2020, COVID-19 RELATED PRESUBMITTAL TELECONFERENCE WITH UNION ELECTRIC COMPANY DBA AMEREN MISSOURI REGARDING POSTPONEMENT OF STEAM GENERATOR EDDY CURRENT TESTING, BY ONE REFUELING OUTAGE FOR CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT NO. 1 (EPID L-2020-LRM-0054)

On June 24, 2020, a Category 1, public meeting was held by teleconference between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Union Electric Company, dba Ameren Missouri (the licensee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a planned license amendment request regarding postponement of steam generator eddy current testing, currently scheduled for the upcoming refueling outage starting in the fall of 2020, to the next refueling outage scheduled for the spring of 2022. The meeting notice and agenda, dated June 10, 2020, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML20163A645. A list of attendees is enclosed.

During the meeting, the licensee presented meeting slides (ADAMS Accession No. ML20170A203), which provided the basis for the request, the technical specification requirements, the inspection scope, an outline of the design features of the steam generators, and the proposed schedule for the project.

Also, during the meeting, the NRC staff asked the licensee to clarify some information regarding the historical performance of the steam generators, the current condition monitoring, the degradation mechanism, and the schedule requirements during the upcoming outage.

The licensees reason for submitting this request is due to the difficulty present in scheduling these activities, to maintain social distancing and observing all the recommended practices needed to maintain the health and safety of the workers, due to the current physical health emergency, COVID-19.

No regulatory decisions were reached at this meeting. No members of the public attended the meeting. No Public Meeting Feedback forms were received.
