VERIFICATION LETTER OF THE APPROVAL VERSION OF KAIROS POWER LLC TOPICAL REPORT KP-TR-003-NP, PRINCIPAL DESIGN CRITERIA FOR THE KAIROS POWER FLUORIDE SALT-COOLED, HIGH TEMPERATURE REACTOR (CAC NO. 000431)
Dear Mr. Hastings:
By letter dated June 12, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20167A174), Kairos Power LLC (Kairos) submitted an approval
(-A) version of Topical Report KP-TR-003-NP, Principal Design Criteria for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled, High Temperature Reactor, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. Kairos has done so in accordance with our letter dated May 22, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20111A118) transmitting the NRC staffs final safety evaluation for the topical report.
The NRC staff has completed its review of the approval version of the topical report. The NRC staff verified that Kairos has met the requirements and determined that the submitted -A version is acceptable for referencing in licensing applications for nuclear power plants to the extent specified and under the limitations delineated in the accepted version of the topical report. The -A version, KP-TR-003-NP-A, Principal Design Criteria for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled, High Temperature Reactor, is now approved for use in future licensing actions.
