RE: Questions about PBR on Weds, June 10th Date:
Monday, June 08, 2020 6:21:53 PM Mr. Langley,
Good afternoon. Thank you for your e-mail. Please find responses to your questions below (in blue text). The call-in and Skype information for the meeting on Wednesday (at 1 PM EST) is the following:
Call in Telephone Number: (800) 772-3842 Participant Conference Security Code: 2206
The link for the Skype: https://skype.nrc.gov/meet/chris.bajwa/YYJ2LNB3?sl=1
Please note that the Skype audio connection will not be activated for the meeting and the call-in number will be the only source of audio for the meeting. A transcript of the meeting will be generated and placed in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
If you have any presentations that you wish to refer to during the meeting, you may provide them electronically in advance to me and they will be displayed on Skype during the meeting, when needed.
Addressing the questions that you asked:
- 1) What are the qualifications of the individuals on the Petition Review Board? Specifically, are they engineers, attorneys?
Each PRB is comprised of NRC staff chosen based on the specifics of each petition, consistent with the guidance in MD 8.11 (Section IIIA). The PRB usually consists of a Petition Manager, selected Scientists and/or Engineers, and a Senior Executive who serves as the Chair. PRBs are usually in contact with the NRC Office of General Council. The PRB members for this petition will introduce themselves at the meeting and provide their position/titles.
- 2) Can you send us the Rapid Cooldown report on San Onofre?
Please use the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
(link) to obtain publicly available documents.
- 3) Protocol: Can you point me to an NRC Web page that outlines the rules of practice and procedure for a PBR 2.206 hearing?
These two linked documents contain guidance on the upcoming 2.206 PRB meeting for the petition (it is not a hearing).
Management Directive 8.11 2.206 Petition Desktop Guide
- 4) Will Holtec be presenting? Will Edison?
This meeting is an opportunity for the petitioner to provide relevant additional explanation and support to their petition. Licensees and vendors do not normally present at these
meetings.
If you have any additional questions, please dont hesitate to contact me.
