Inspection Report No. 50-320/88-07
A routine safety inspection of solid radioactive waste processing, preparation,
packaging and shipping activities was conducted by Mr. B. S. Davidson of this
office on May 2-6, 1988 at the Three Mile Island Station, Unit 2.
Our fi:. dings
were discussed with members of your staff at the conclusion of the 'nspection
on May 6, 1988.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspec-
tion Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspec-
tion consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel and observations by the inspector.

The inspection indicated that the program failed to properly account for a
package containing radioactive materials in one of your radwaste shipments
resulting in apparent violations of NRC requirements. Details are provided in
enclosed Appendix A.
In addition, we have reviewed your corrective actions to
avoid further violations and found them adequate.
No response to this letter is required.
