REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - TROJAN FIRE PROTECTION PLAN (TAC NO. 66379)
By letter dated June 30, 1987, Portland General Electric Company (PGE) submitted its updated version of Topical Report PGE-1012. "Trojan Nuclear Plant Fire Protection Plan," Volumes 1 and 2.
On April 20-21, 1988, our consultant (T. Storey-SAIC) visited Trojan and discussed various issues related to our review of PGE-1012 with members of your staff.
Based on these discussions, we find that additional information is required before we can complete our review. We ask that you provide the requested information contained in Enclosure 1 within 60 days from receipt of this letter, or provide an a!ternative schedule for doing so within 15 days.
The reporting and/or recoraPeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

ENCLOSURE 1 REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FIRE PROTECTION PLAN REVIEW TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY 1.
Provide supporting documei6ation which demonstrates that penetration 603A is a rated configuration. The type of documentation provided should be equivalent to that which is available for all rated penetrations on site.
2.
Provide the results of the analyses which demonstrates that the exterior boundaries of fire areas are either rated or that they have been evaluated to provide the necessary protection from exterior hazards.
3.
Provide documentation which demonstrates that the cable wrap systems used in the plant provide the proper rating in the configurations in which they are used.
4.
Identify which NFPA codes have been compared with current plant design.
If code compliance evaluations have not been performed, indicate when they will be performed in the future.
5.
Provide a discussion on how the various engineering evaluations are referenced in PGE 1012 or other documents which would tie them into the fire protection program. A flow chart of fire protection program documents including engineering evaluations would be helpful.
6.
Provide a discussion of how Trojan fire protection comitments are tracked and how it is ensured that all of these comitments are in PGE 1012.
7.
Provide evaluations regardino conformance to NRC Fire Protection criteria
