Gentlemen:

This refers to the routine safety inspection of inservice inspection ano plant

modifications activities conducted by Mr. K. D. Ward of this office on March 16,

18, 23-24, 29-30, April 20, May 13 and June 3,1988, of activities at LaSalle

County Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-11

and No. NPF-18 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. G. Diederich and

others at the conclusion of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during

the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and

interviews with perso,inel.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this

'

inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Comission's regulations, a copy of

this letter and tha enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC

Public Document Room.
