FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTION Re: Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Unit 1 As we have discussed with your staff, we are planning to conduct a fire j protection inspection on Unit 1 as part of our review of issues and programs leading to Unit I restart. This inspection will be similar to the one conducted at Unit 2 in March 1988. This letter is to specify the work to be completed by ,

TVA at Unit 1 before we initiate the inspection. We request that before the l inspection (1) Revision 9 of the Appendix R Fire Protection Safe Shutdown calculations be submitted about 30 days before the inspection, (2) a list of i fire protection modifications completed on Unit 2 but not on Unit 1 be submitted with the basis for not implementing the modifications on Unit 1, and (3) an evaluation of Unit 1 in regard to cable-to-cable interactions be submitted.

You are requested to inform us by letter when Unit I will be ready for the inspection and the basis for your conclusion.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondentr>; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
