Areas Inspected: Special, announced safety inspection to follow-up a notice of lost licensed material described in a letter from licensee dated February 6, 1986 (Attachment 1). The inspection reviewed the circumstances surrounding the death of a patient who wore a nuclear cardiac pacemaker and the licensee's efforts to locate the pacemaker's present whereabouts. The inspection included a review of the licensee's organization; pertinent enforcement history; pacemaker implantee identification, training, and emergency procedure requirements; and implantee follow-up requirements.
