This letter refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. H. J. Kaplan

of this office on August 5, 1988 and August 8-12, 1988 at the Peach Bottom
Power Station, Delta, Pennsylvania. Mr. Kaplan discussed the findings of the
inspection with members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection focused on replacement of emergency service water system piping,
the erosion-corrosion monitoring program, an indication in the Unit 3 recircula-
tion pump to pipe weld, and inspection of the shroud access cover plate welds
in Units 2 and 3.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the
NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within the
areas examined, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of proce-
dures and representative records, interviews with personnel and observations by
the inspector. No violations or deviations were identified.
