Response to Inspection No. 50-029/85-25

Dear Sir:

Reference (b) provided the results of the Staff's inspection of the Yankee Nuclear Power Station in regard to compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix R, Sections III.G. J, and O. This report concluded that no violations were identified; however, an item regarding the Breaker coordinatior. Study remained unresolved at the end of the inspection. This letter provides our response to the unresolved item.

As part of the associated circuit analysis, we performed a Breaker Coordination Study. At the time of the inspection, the results of the study were preliminary and corrective action plans had not been developed. At the exit interview on December 19, 1985, we agreed to infom the NRC of our intentions.

We have evaluated the results of our Breaker Coordination Study and have determined that no major modifications are required to correct study findings. Minor changes to improve coordination will be done during the next two refueling outages presently scheduled for May 1987 and October 1988.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Very truly yours, YANKEE ATOMIC ELECTRIC COMP Y G
