Gentlemen:
This refers to our Confirmatory Action Letters (CAL-RIII-86-01, dated
January 31, 1986, and CAL-RIII-86-01A, dated February 4, 1986), relating to
the seismic event that occurred on January 31, 1986, in the vicinity of the
Perry Nuclear Power Plant. This also refers to the telephone conversation
between Mr. A. Kaplan of your staff and Dr. C. J. Paperiello of my staff on
March 10,1986, and your letter of February 12, 1986, on the same topic.
Based on our inspection efforts in this area, the information you supplied to
our inspectors and the Seismic Event Evaluation Report which you submitted to
NRR, Region III concludes you have met all of your comitments noted in the
above Confirmatory Action Letters. Our inspection results will be sent to you
in IE Inspection Report 50-440/86005 which is currently under review.
