/ NMSS intends to inform EDO and the Commissioners of review schedules when the draft Environmental -

Assessments and Site Characterization Plans are received from DOE for comment. Copies of comments provided to DOE and Site Characterization Analyses would be forwarded to the Commission for information.

/ Required content of Site Characterization Plans is currently being revised in proposed procedural amendments to 10 CFR Part 60, approved by the' Commission December 27, 1984 (SECY-84-263). Reg. Guide 4.17 will be reviseo acccrdingly to provide guidance on SCP contents.

/ Under existing 10 CFR Part 60, the staff would is' sue a draft site characterization analysis, receive public comments, and issue a final site characterization analysis in a total of ten months. Proposed amendments to Part 60 would clininate the draft site characterization analysis. A site characterization analysis would be submitted to DOE in five months, and a notice of availability thereof would be published requesting public comments.
