Dear Ms. Dieus:
I wish to thank you for taking the time to meet with Den and me during our visit to Little Rock and for arranging the meeting with Dr. Ben Saltzman and representatives from the Governor's office.
Your description of the Radiation Control Program and the tour of your facilitier was interesting and informative. Regarding our discussion concerning the frequency of emergency planning exercises, I am enclosing a copy of the current NRC rule on this matter. Under certain conditions the frequency of drills can be every two years.
1 also appreciated the opportunity to discuss some of the problems being encountered in developing new disposal capacity for low-level waste. We l
are prepared to provide technical assistence to the States to the extent l that we can. I know that Gary Sanborn, our Regional State Liaison Officer.
l follows the activities of the Central Compact with the objective of providing l assistance when possible.
