Dear Sirs:
In the referenced letter the District committed to resolve the Control Roca habitability concern with respect to ammonia.
This commitment was reiterated by the NRC staff in NUREG-1286, Supplement 1, with a date of June 1,1988, for resolution.
Pursuant to this commitment the District evaluated the use of ammonia on site and as a result will reduce the concentration of the bulk ammonia storage tank from 28 to 20 weight percent by June 1,1988.
Attached are the assumptions and results of the re-evaluation of the ammonia spill assuming a 20 weight percent solution.
Adequate time exists from odor detection until donning of breathing apparatus (Regulatory Guide 1.78);
therefore, the lowering of the ammonia concentration will result in an acceptable Control Room environment in the event of a postulated ammonia spill.
