A.
Each encapsulated plutonium source designed for the purpose of emitting neutron t
or gamma radiation shall be tested for leakage at intervals not to exceed t
six (6) months.
In the absence of a certificate from a transferor indicating b
that a test has been made within six (6) months prior to the transfer, a sealed I
source received from another person shall not be put into use until tested.

The test shall be capable of detecting the presence of 0.005 microcurie of alpha r
contamination on the test sample. The test sample shall be taken from the L
source or from appropriate accessible surfaces of the device in which the sealed f
source is permanently or semipermanently mounted or stored. Records of leak I
I test results shall be kept in units of migrocuries and maintained for inspection

shipment by air transport or transported in an aircraft by the licensee except in L

The licensee is authorized to hold radioactive material with a physical half-life of g
less than 65 days for decay-in-storage before disposal in ordinary trash provided:

Radioactive waste to be disposed of in this manner shall be held for decay a t
minimum of ten (10) half-lives.

Prior to disposal as normal waste, radioactive waste shall be monitored to p
determine that its radioactivity cannot be distinguished from background with

Except as specifically provided otherwise by this license, the licensee shall possess and use licensed material described in Items 6, 7, and 8 of this license in accordance with statements, representations, and procedures contained in applications dated May 19, 1980 and September 22, 1980; and letter dated October 16, 1985. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's regulations shall govern the licensee's statements in applications or letters, unless the statements are more restrictive than the regulations.
