i This is to advise you of a maintenance team inspection that has been scheduled to be performed at the Wolf Creek Generating Station during the weeks of September 19, 1988, and October 3, 1988, i We have discussed this inspection effort with Mr. Otto Maynard and other members of your staff. These discussions included a meeting at the Wolf Creek l site on August 31, 1988, between Messrs. James E. Gagliardo and Raymond P. Mullikin of the Region IV staff and Messrs. Rhodes, Boyer, Maynard, I and their staff. This inspection will be a performance based inspection that-is designed to assess the effectiveness of the Wolf Creek Maintenance Program, l The team leader for this inspection is Mr. Raymond P. Mullikin, who has been  !

and will continue to be our principle contact for this inspection. The ,

l inspection team will consist of a Region IV reactor inspector Mr.RobertVickrey),aRegionIVradiationprotectionspecialist i Mr. Ronald E. Baer), the Wolf Creek senior resident inspector i

! Mr. Bruce L. Bartlett), and two consultants (Messrs. Mike Trojovsky and  !

! Quinn Decker). Mr. James E. Gagliardo, the Region IV manager of the maintenante team inspection efforts will also assist the team in evaluating ,

management control of maintenance activities. f The inspection team is scheduled to arrive on site on the morning of {

September 19, 1988, and those who are not currently badged at the Wolf Creek site will receive the appropriate site-specific training to be badged for unescorted access. The information required for unescorted badging has been l l

provided in separate correspondence.

l The inspection team is scheduled to hold an entrance interview at approximately 11:00 a.m. on September 19, 1988. The exit interview will be scheduled for October 7,1988 at a time that is suitable to your staff and the team. The I team leader will debrief your staff regarding preliminary findings and I concerns on a daily basis. ,
