DUANE ARNOLD INSPECTION REPORT 50-331/98012(DRP)
Dear Mr. Franz:

On September 4,1998, the NRC completed a routine safety inspection at your Duane Amold
,
Energy Center (DAEC) facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During this 6-week inspection period, your conduct of activities at the DAEC facility was
)
characterized by safety conscious operations. In particular, a smooth transition to the use of
Improved Technical Specifications was noted and a planned power reduction evolution was
conducted in a controlled manner. No violations of NRC requirements were identified during
the course of this inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
