Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Technical Specification Amendment Post Accident Liquid Sample Lines

Dear Sir:

Thir letter contains a proposed amendment to the Technica) Specifications for Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Units 1 and 2.

The request involves the addition of containment isola

  • ion valves and containment penetrations to Tables 3.6-1, 3.6-2a and 3.6-2b.

This amendment would also delete some information which is no longer applicable.

The modifications which will add'the new valves and penetrations are scheduled to be completed during the next refueling outages for both Units. Unit 1 third refueling is currently scheduled to begin on December 14, 1988 and end on February 8, 1989. The Unit 2 second refueling is currently scheduled to begin on February 9, 1989 and end on April 10, 1989.

The attachment contnins the proposed changes and a diccussion of the justification and a No Significant Hazards analysis. The analysis is included pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 and it has been concluded that the proposed amendment does not involve significant hazards considerations.

This proposal involves one amendment request to Catawba's Technical Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.21 a check for $150.00 is enclosed.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b) (1) the appropriate South Carolina State Official is being provided a copy of this amendment request.
