STAT'J S OF ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING B0 RC PARTIAL INITIAL DECISION REQUIREMENTS FOR CATAWBA CLEAR STATION (Docket No. 50-413)

The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board, in a Partial Initici Dechion (PID) issued on June 22, 1984, required actions to be performed by Duke Power Coc'pany and/or sta'ff concerning several areas at Catawba. These actions include upgrading of procedures for control of filler metal (PID p. 87), followup of recomendations concerning Welding Concern No. D-18 regarding socket weld sizes (PID pp. 106-107),

followup of recomendations concerning Welding Concern No. E-2 regarding socket weld gaps (PID p.121), modifications to procedures for walk-down inspections to, r remove limitations (PID pp. 172-173), modification of instructions and procedures relative to harassment (PID p. 181), and staff verification that remaining L honeycombina of significance is adequately repaired prior to low-power testing 1

(PIDp.242).

With the exception of harassment procedures modifications, the staff and Cuke actions have been completed and Region II (RII) staff has verified that Duke actions are complete and adequate. Information relative to these items are contained in RII Report Nos. 50-413/84-82, 50-414/84-36, 50-413/84-49, and 50-414/84-23. Modification to the harassment procedures is presently a proposed licensed condition and is scheduled to be completed by December 22, 1984, or prior to authorization of full power operation (whichever is later). RII staff will verify the completion of this item.
