s h0TICE OF VIOLATION Convenwealth Edison Company Docket No. 50-373 Docket No. 50-374 i

As a result of the inspection conducted on January 13-27, 1986, and.in accordance with the " General Policy and Procedures for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1985), the following violations were identified:

1 Condition No. 24 of Amendment No. 1 of Facility Operating License No. NPF-11 l (Unit 1) and Condition No.15 of Facility Operating License No. NPF-18

+ (Unit 2) require the licensee to maintain in effect all provisions of the j approved fire protection program for LaSalle Unit I and Unit 2.

As part of their approved fire protection program, the licensee concitted to i install fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with National Fire 1

Protection Standard No. 720.

Contrary to the above, the licensee failed to install fire detection and alann systems in accordance with the stated requirements in that:

a. Unit I and Unit 2 local fire alarm circuits are not electrically j supervised.

b. Unit I and Unit 2 control room fire detection system visual alarm l

anr.unciator circuits are not electrically supervised.

This is A Severity Level IV violation (Supplement I.D).

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice a written statement or

explanation in reply, including for each violation

(1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
