This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Mr. H. W. Kerch of
this office on January 13, through January 17, 1986 in the Region I office and
on January 21-31, 1986, at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Station at Vernon, Vermont,

of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-28 and to the discussions of
our findings held by Mr. Kerch with Mr. P. Pelletier, and other members of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The areas examined during the inspection included welding and nondestructive
,
i
examinations of the recirculation piping system. Within these areas the
'
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
,
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
{
inspector.
In addition, the NRC Nondestructive Examination Van was also used
'
to make certain independent physical measurements.
,

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
