Dear Sir / Madam:

The purpose of this letter is to transmit the enclosed report, "Yankee Nuclear Power Station Core 20 Performance Analysis, YAEC-1652, for your information. This report provides the basis for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS) Core 20 licensing analysis. Mechanical, thermai sydraulic, physics, and safety analysis aspects of Core 20 rre presented in the report.

The analysis of Core 20 was performed using met.ods which were previoup 1 reviewed and approved by the Commission.

The results of the Core 20 performance analysis demonstrate that the plant performance is well within the acceptable limits, and we have determined, pursuant to 10CFR50.59, that the operation of YNPS Core 20 does not involve any unreviewed safety questions. Additionally, the Core 20 performance analysis does not require any change to the YNPS Technic.a1 Specifications.

%e above determination has been reviewed by the Yankee Nuclear Power Station Plant Operatiens Review Committee and the Nuclear Safety Audit and Reviev Committee.

Core 20 is presently scheduled to start up on December 24, 1983.

We trust that this informstion is satisfactory; however, if you have any questions, please contact us.
