Docket No. 50-219 Facility Operating License No. DPR-16 Request For Additional Information Conceming Generic Letter 96-06 By letter dated June 19,1998, the Staff requested additional information concerning Generic Letter 96-06 " Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity During Design-Basis Accident Conditions" in order to complete its review of GPU Nuclear's prior submittals dated January 28 and February 26,1997. It had been requested that the additional information be submitted to the NRC by August 30,1998 in order to support the StafTs review schedule.
As discussed with Mr. Ron Eaton, the Oyster Creek Project Manager, on August 20,1998, the request for additional infonnation regarding the potential for water hammer and/or two-phase flow in the Drywell Cooling Units has led GPU Nuclear to consider scenarios previously not addressed. Additional calculations are required to complete our assessment. Accordingly, GPU Nuclear requested a 60-day extension of the submittal duc date and intends to submit the information by October 29,1998.
