Your letter of June 30, 1988, provided your response to Generic Letter 88-01 for Plant Hatch and further provided ycur alan for inspection of the Unit 1 austenitic stainbss steel piping during t1e fall 1988 refueling outage.
Several questions have been identified as a result of the review to date of your June 30 letter. These are identified in the enclosure.
Your response to those questions is requested as soon as possible in order to enable the staff review to be completed prior to the scheduled start of the outage.
In the interest of expediting your response, I forwarded a copy of the questions to your Mr. Heidt via facsiaiile on August 29, 1988.

ENCLOSURE Hatch, Units 1 and 2 Request for Additional Information Based upon the preliminary review of the GPC response to Generic Letter 88-01, the need for additional information has been identified as follows:
1.
Provide justification for the classification of Category A welds in the submittal in Sections C and D.
2.
Provide a justification for not identifying any Category G welds in Sections C and D.
3.
Provide a description of decuracy of determining the leakage rates by manually monitoring the time between sump pump starts as stated in Section E12.
4.
Provide an explanation and justification of averaging leakage over a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> period as stated in Section E12.

Provide clarification of the expression "substantive modifications" included in Section E13, i
