The present regulations under 10 CFR 55.57(b)(2)(iv) state that an operator's license will be renewed if the operator has passed a comprehensive '

requalificaticn written examination and operating test administered by the [

Cocmission during the terr of a six-year license. Prior to May 1987 each .

license holder was issued a two year license with to requirecent for an UFC l administered requalificatter. examination. After May 1967 license holders tegen to be issued six-year licenses when their two-year Itcense expired. l The NFC staff has been conducting a pilot program in which scre license l holders at specific facilities have been administered the requalificaticn l written exam. The Commissien will begin later this year to test on a regular ,
