Subject:
Final 10CFR50.55(e) Report:
Ferroresonant Transformer Deficiencies in Westinghouse 7.5 kVA Inverters (CDR 84-00-16)
Dear Sir:
References (b) and (c) reported a potential 10CFR50.55(e) item regarding two component deficiencies in Gener:11 Electric ferroresonant transformers used in Westinghouse inverters.
The first potential deficiency involved incorrect terminal connections on capacitors within the ferroresonant transformers. This problem was found in 10 of 12 inverters and in three of four spare ferroresonant transformers.
Therefore, this item is now considered a reportable deficiency.
The rework recommendations given in Westinghouse Technical Bulletin 84-08 have been completed to correct this deficiency.
The second potential deficiency involved insufficient securing of the transformer reactor legs. The high potential testing recommended in Westinghouse Technical Bulletin 84-11 has been successfully completed on all inverters and spare transformers indicating that this defect does not exist at
,Seabrook. Therefore, this item is not a reportable deficiency and no corrective action is required.
