20555 Attention:

Mr.

B. J.

Youngblood, Project Director PWR Project Directorate No. 4 Re:' Catawba Nuclear Station, Unit 2 Dockct No.-50-414

Dear Sir:

Test abstracts describing the preoperational testing of the Component Cooling Water (KC) System and the Nuclear Service Water (RN) System are provided in Table' 14.2.12-1 (Page 13 and 16, respectively) of the Catawba FSAR.

The Acceptance Criteria for these tests were revised in Revision 13 to more accurately reflect the conduct of these tests.

Prior to Revision 13, the Acceptance' Criteria of each test have required that flows to essential components be greater than or equal to val,ues given in FSAR Section 9.2.

The Acceptance Criteria were changed in Revision 13 to require that flowsito essential components' correspond,to the nominal. values listed in Section 9.2-of the FSAR.

This change was necessary because the' flows given in Section 9.2 of the FSAR are nominal values not minimum values.

In practice, detailed acceptance criteria (minimum, maximum or nominal +/- a tolerance) are provided to Catawba Station personnel' by.the-Mechanical Systems Group of our Design Engineering-Department.

These flows ^ assure that essential equipment served by the KC and RN Systems receive at least minimum flows for the various modes as specified-in the FSAR.

Very truly yours, v

Hal B. Tucker Oi ROS:slb
