VINGINIA ELECTHIC AND Powun Costiwny HICHMOND, Vilf 01NIA 2 0 0 61 W.L. STEWART x2."dE/.'.?E. March 15, 1988 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Serial No.88-056 Attention: Document Control Desk N0/RMK:jmj Washington, D.C. 20555 Docket Nos. 50-338 50-339 License Nos. NPF-4 NPF-7 Gentlemen:

VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER CONPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 PRESSURIZED THERMAL SHOCK REFERENCE TENPERATURE UPDATE Virginia Electric and Power Company letter dated January 23,1986 (Serial No.85-628) included an attachment, WCAP-11016, which provided the then current and projected pressurized thermal shock reference temperature (RTpts) values for North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2. By letter dated December 30, 1986, the NRC issued Amendments Nos. 89 and 75 to Facility Operating License I Nos. NPF-4 and NPF-7 for North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2. These I amendments changed the license expiration date for Unit 1 from February 18, 2011 to April 1, 2018, and from February 19, 2011 to August 21, 2020 for

( Unit 2. Since 10 CFR 50.61(b)(1) requires updated RTpts values whenever significant changes occur, we are submitting a revision of our original RTpts l analysis (WCAP-11016, Revision 3) to include the extension of the North Anna i Operating Licenses to 40 years from the issuance of the licenses.

l The present RTpts values and the projected RTpts values at the new expiration

, date of the operating license were calculated for each material in the reactor l vessel belt line region for ecch Unit. The revised RTpts values still do not exceed the RTpts screening criteria. This assessment will be updated in accordance with 10CFR50.61(b)(1) whenever changes in core loadings, surveillance measurements, or other information indicates a significant change in projected values.

Very truly yours, h,

W. L. Stewart
