MG18 1953 Docket Nos.
50-277 50-278 Philadelphia Electric Company ATTN: Mr. C. A. McNeill Executive Vice President-Nuclear 2301 Market Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -19101 Gentlemen:
NRC Region I is planning to participate in your full-scale, unannounced, off-hours emergency preparedness exercise for Peach Bottom, scheduled during the week of September 25, 1988. Whenever Region I participates as a player in a licensee exercise, we request that representatives from the licensee's Emergency Preparedness 5taff provide the Region I staff a training session on their emergency organization, facilities and procedures. The feedback from these sessions has been most encouraging. Both licensee and NRC staffs have found these sessions very beneficial. I would like to request that the a;,propriate members of your staff provide a briefing / training session on the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Facility and Emergency Response Organization, at the Region I Office on September 15, 1988 at 9:00 a.m.
The g enda is flexible. Although I have attached an agenda from a previous training session, you should rot feel constrained to follow it. Your agenda should reflect those items of your Emergency Response Program your staff feels NRC personnel should be particularly knowledgeable in to ensure a well coordinated NRC/ Licensee response to the emergency.
Previous training sessions have varied from two to three hours depending on the type of training and issues of ccncern.
Please contact Robert Summers of my staff at (215) 337 5391 to confirm this meeting.
