Gentlemen:
This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Messrs. D. Butler,
R. Hodor, K. Parkinson and J. M. Ulie of this office on July 18-22, 1989, of
activities at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2, authorized
,'
by. NRC Operating Licenses No. DPR-42 and DPR 60, and co the discussion of:our
findings with Mr. L. Eliason at the conclusion of the inspection.
This
inspection involved a followup review of Sections III.G, J and L of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix R as they relate to previous Appendix R inspectian findings.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection.
Within these araas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviws with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter, the enclosures, and your response to this letter will be placed
in the NRC Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
