INTAKE ,TRUCTURE SETTLEMENT During routine inspection in August 1977, the licensee discovered I cracks in the reinforced concrete service water intake tunnel. Followup examination of the pump house structure and the intake tunnel showed l i

settlement of 8-1/2 inches. The net settlement predicted by the designer I was 6-7 inches after credit for 2 inches of rebound when the reservoir is filled. Current indications are that final settlement could be on the order of 18 inches. The licensee reports that this value would not cause unacceptable structural damage or operational problems.
