EXCEEDED SITE INSTANTANE0US RELEASE Licensee reported that reactor cleanup system leaks in an equipment room resulted in a release of 80,870 microcuries, predominantly iodine, based on a 24-hour sample taken from October 3-4, 1977. The release was 234 percent of the instantaneous site limit for iodines and particulates and was from the Unit 3 Reactor Building Vent. Upon dis-covery, the Standby Gas Treatment System was initiated to process air from various cleanup and heat exchange process areas and the reactor water cleanup system was isolated. Samples indicated the release had decreased to 917 microcuries (21 percent of the Technical Specification limit) over the following three hours. Subsequent counts indicated a further decrease. --
