In response to the verbal request on April 14, 1988, by Dr.

A.

Thomas Clark, NRC, AlChemIE advises as follows relative to the use of feedstock compounds listed in Table 5-1 of the Safety Analysis Reports. AlChemIE does not intend to process mercury (organofluoromercurials), boron (boron trifluoride) vanadium (vanadium pentafluoride) or,. osmium (osmium hexafluorida) in the centrifuge facilities.

In that Tables 5.3.1 (Docket No.

50-604) and 5.1.1 (Docket No.50-603) of the Environmental Reports are identical to Table 5-1 of the SAR, the above comments are equally applicable.

In addition please also be advised that AlChemIE, in accordance with Department of Energy requirements, will perform a safety analysis for each feedstock compound to be processed.

This analysis will be completed prior to the feedstock being purchased.
