SUBJECT:

MAINE YANKEE THERMAL SHIELD INSPECTION By letter dated April 5,1988 you provided an update on the Thermal Shield status.

In that letter you stated that the inservice inspection scheduled for the reactor vessel had been advanced from 1992 to 1990.

By letter dated May 17, 1984 you stated that you planned to reinspect the Thermal Shield no later than the 1989 refueling outage.

Due to the extended 1987 outage, the 1989 outage will be delayed until 1990, thus your reinspection of the Thermal Shield will be accomplished during the 1990 outage. We agree with your schedule.
