l This letter confirms the telephone conversation between W. L. Forney of l-this office and Mr. K. Kofron of your staff on April 22, 1988, regarding a ConfirmatoryActionLetter(CAL-RIII-88-05)issuedMarch 23, 1988, for Braidwood Unit 1. This CAL was in regard to deficiencies you identified in lubricants in motor operated valves at Braidwood. Based on your submittals dated April 22, 1988, in which you comitted to environmentally qualifying the lubricant or location of the final four valves under consideration, we agree that the actions you are taking satisfy the requirements of the i Confirmatory Action Letter. Therefore, I concurred with your decision to restart Unit 1 and CAL-RIII-88-05 is considered closed. A Safety Evaluation Report will be issued regarding the resolution of this issue.
