This transmits the findings of the above subject NRC inspection of the Haddam Neck
Plant by Mr. J. T. Shediosky and Ms. A. A. Asars. No. violations were identified
no reply to this letter is required. The inspection findings have been discussed
with Mr. D. B. Miller of your staff.
During this inspection period,. your- staff detected an error in the Emergency Core
Cooling. System flow delivery curves, which have been used in the Large Break Loss
of Coolant Accident analysis since 1971. Discovery of this error will allow more
accurate modeling of plant response to postulated accident conditions. Also, we
noted that your thorough approach to upgrade the plant safety analysis productively
-questioned the older . accepted calculations which led to detection of this error.
