July 13, 1988 telephone discussion between L. Norderhaug (NRC) and P. Champion (SCE), Subject.: Same as reference 1 above This letter documents the telephone conversation cited in the reference.
On July 12, 1988, with Unit 1 in cold shutdown, a portion of the Unit 1 Diesel-Generating Building, Diesel Generator Number 2 (North), was temporarily devitalized to inspect the diesel's crankshaft. The estimated time to complete thit; inspection is approximately five to seven days.
Security compensatory measures have been implemented to continue to protect the diesel's battery room and switchgear room as vital equipment.
Immediately after completing the inspection of-the Diesel Generator Number 2, Diesel Generator Number 1 (South), will undergo the same inspection.
The NRC will be telephonically informed when changes in the status of t'.te generators occur to include the results of the security searches and the operations alignment checks.
Due to the anticipated short duration of these inspections, a Physical Security Plan Chapter 10 Addendum, describing the temporary devitalization of ]
