Dear Mr. Murley:

The purpose of this letter is to supplement information documented in reference (a). This information was discussed with members of the NRC Staff via a teleconference on April 20, 1988. provides an ERRATA sheet that corrects the reference in Action Item 4 from "... item 2a...."

to "... item 2c..." provides a listing of the Unit 1, Group II valves including the two (2) valves located inside containment and those that provide containment isolation. The normal position and post LOCA position of the containment isolation valves are presented. Also, the expected radiation environment and valve function of all of these valves are given. provides an updated penetration test results chart for l

Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit common and the overall total. Also, included are the i

specific penetration test results for those valves in the 300 to 310; 380 to 390; and 390 to 400 ranges.

l Valve numbers 1RH8716A and 2SX005 were the two valves reclassified from Group II to Group III, based on the visual examination, that had mixture ratios of 35:1 and 30:1 Calcium to Lithium, respectively.

As indicated in the teleconference all Braidwood Unit 2 Group II valve operators are scheduled to have the grease changed-out by 5/2/88.

(--)All underlined valve numbers are containment isolaticn valves NOTE 1: The reactor coolant loop stop valve operators for Units 1 & 2, (1/2RC8001A, B,C,D and 1/2RC8002A, B,C, D) are not required to perform any normal, abnormal or emergency function during plant operation. These valves are required to be open with the power removed from the valve operatos in modes 1, 2, 3, and 4 per Technical Specification 3.4.1.5.1.

These operators are installed on the valves to serve a maintenance function only. These valves do not require the grease to be changed.
