VESSEL WALL CRACK INDICATIONS BELOW CONTROL ROD DRIVE (CRD)
RETURN N0ZZLE Penetrant Testing of CRD return nozzle repairs extended to a small area of the vessel wall I.D.
Eight horizontal cracks five to seven inches in length were identified in an area just below the CRD nozzle on the reactor vessel wall. A t.hree inch length in the worst crack has been ground 0.050 inches into base metal beneath the 1/8 inch stainless steel clad. The indication still exists. The licensee and GE are evaluating the cracks.
