X 8/14/98 COMMENT RESOLUTION Commissioners Diaz and McGaffigan approved in part and disapproved in part the staffs recommendations in the subject paper. They disapproved the staff position that

.would disallow licensees to implement the revised source term in a limited or flexible manner. Chairman Jackson approved the staffs recommendations, but with a goal that i

licensees be allowed to utilize the more accurate source term methodology in the most flexible manner consistent with the maintenance of a clear, logical, and consistent plant design basis. All Commissioners requested an expedited schedule to complete this rulemaking. Subsequently, the comments of the Commission were incorporated into the guidance to staff as reflected in the SRM issued on September 4,1998.
