License Amendment Application Regarding Referencing of the Control Rod Position Svitches for Remote Shutdown Instrumentation (TAC No. 66735)
Gentlemen:
Enclosed is an application for an Jccadment to the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.1 Operating License, Appendix A, Technical Specifications.
This application requests that the Technical Specifications be revised to ref]ect the changes attac5 :.
The proposed changes involve Section 3/4.3.3.5, Instrumentation, Remote St.utdovn Instrumentation, Table 3.3-9, Remote Shutdown Monitoring Instrumentation and Table 4.3-6, Remote Shutdown Monitoring Instrumentation Surveillance Requirements.
The proposed changes to Table 3.3-9 and Table 4.3-6 vould revise the present reference to Control Rod Position Limit Switcher to the correct reference of Control Rod Position Svitches for remote shutdovn instrumentation. Also, the requirement to perform a channel calibration of these switches every eighteen months vould be deleted.
The svitches ar1 fixed and enclosed in a fiberglass tube and only requirr adjustment (i.e., raising or lowering the tube) during initial installa; ion replacement at the Control Rod Drive Mechanism.
Due to 0.0 fixed nature of the switches, periodic calibration is not required.

In addition, a footnote allowing the extension of the due date for channel calibration of the steam generator outlct steam pressure it.31 cation at the Auxiliary Shutdown Panel vill be deleted due to the stated applicability of the time frame being expired. This latter charge was also proposed in Toledo Edison's submittal dated November 2, 1987 (Serial No. 1407) to the NRC, which remains pending.

Toledo Edison requests that the NRC schedule this License Amendment Application for review and approval such that the amendment will be issued by October 15, 1988 for implementation within 45 days.
Enclosed is a check for $150.00 as required by 10CFR170.12(c) for a License Amendment Application.
