Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. T. Ploski of
this office on July 11-15, 1988, of activities at the Davis-Besse Nuclear
Power Station, authorized by NRC Operating Licensa No. NPF-3, and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. B. DeMaison and others of your staff
at the conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed inspection report also
addresses a July 18, 1988 telephone conversation between Messrs. DeMaison
and Ploski regarding the operability of the Prompt Notification System.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
,
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
i
examination of procedures and representative records, observaticns, and
,
interviews with personnel.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy
of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the
NRC Public Document Room.
