Dear Ms. Detloff:

This letter is in response to the inquiries made by your Office concerning the correct correspondence addresses for the licenses issued to Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, especially for the special nuclear materials license, SNM-1891.

The inquiries consisted of two telephone conversations and a letter dated July 23, 1987, a copy of which is enclosed.

I have reviewed the eight materials licenses issued to our institution and also the license applications submitted to the Commission. I wish to explain the following:

(1) the name of the licensee is correct in each of the eight licenses and the places of use are unchanged except when a change has been authorized by an amendment, (2) the malling address for the special nuclear materials license is not correct and I am the responsible person. The Commission should have been notified of the change of address for correspondence, anc (3) correspondence from the Commission's headquarters in Washington, D.C., is often misdirected because the name of the person specified in the application for correspondence is always deleted from the mailing address, ! understand this since personnel tend to change l

more than locations of use. However, without my name on the I

address label such correspondence, when properly delivered to the indicated department (Box 8131 - Radiology Department), is often misdirected since the department has approximately 1,000 employees.
