APPENDIX B NOTICE OF DEVIATION Gulf States Utilities Company Docket: 50-458/85-73 River Bend Station License: NPF-40 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of October 28 through November 1, 1985, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in conformance with your commitments to the NRC. In accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1985), the following deviation was_

The Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for River Bend Station, Section 13.2.1, " River Bend Station Staff Training Program," states, in part, that the licensee will provide BWR technology training (as '

referenced in Sections 13.2.1.3.3 and Figure 13.2-1) to radiation protection technicians prior to plant operation. l In deviation from the above, the NRC inspectors determined on  !

October 31, 1985, that only one out of the eight Senior Radiation Protection Technicians had received the specified training.

Gulf States Utilities Company is hereby requested to submit to this office, within 30 days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice of Deviation, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved, (2) the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further deviations, and (3) the date when full i compliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your

response time for good cause shown.
