NRC QUAD CITIES SECURITY INSPECTION REPORTS 50-254/97012
Dear Mr. Kraft:
On July 16,1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your Quad Cities Nuclear
Station. The objective of the inspection effort was to determine whether security
related activities authorized by the license were conducted safely and in accordance
with NRC requirements. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During this inspection, our observation of your activities showed the security program
to be effectively implemented. Management attention resulted in improved
performance. In particular, the effort and results of your activities to reduce security
force personnel errors was successful and consequently the performance of the
security organization improved. No violations of NRC requirements were identified.
However, your practice relating to security patrols appear to limit their effectiveness.
We request you evaluate this issue, which we will review during a future inspection.
The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards Information as defined by
10 CFR 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by Section
